Have a sweet tooth, throwing a party, or getting married? Amber Kennedy is someone you need to meet! With her small business; Cupcake Amour, Amber brings the kid out in all of us with her decadent baked goods! I was fortunate enough to interview Amber, and figure out what exactly makes her small business so “sweet.”
Follow this blog to know more about Cupcake Amour, the owner – Amber, get a “taste” of what it means to be a small business owner in the Tacoma area and (most importantly!) see some of Amber’s unique and delicious creations:
What is your small business’s speciality and how long have you been in business?
I offer custom cakes and cupcakes in a wide variety of flavors, for any event you are in need of a sweet and beautiful dessert. I do offer delivery for all orders. Current holiday favorites include, sweet potato pies, sweet potato cheesecakes, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered rice krispies, white chocolate pretzel rods, and the most amazing cake jars! Getting outside of baking I also do meal prep! Fish tacos paired with two sides and a beverage has been the customer favorite so far. 😉
I’ve been in business since July 2017! (time flies!) and started baking in 2014 when I worked at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport in Atlanta Georgia.

Q: How was your business born? How did you start? Facts about you or your business?
My colleagues asked that I bring my cupcakes in – I did. Soon after the TSA agents got a taste and offered to pay for their own. I moved back to Tacoma, bought my first Kitchen Aid mixer (nick named “big boy” lol) and haven’t stopped since. Despite how tired I maybe or the curve balls that life throws at me, I ALWAYS put 100% into my baking. I’ve had clients tell me they can REALLY taste the love. I believe it. The fact that all of my baked goods are made from scratch probably helps with that too. 😉
I have always loved baking, before actually starting my business, but it wasn’t until I realized that baking is my passion, that I decided to become an entrepreneur. I have several planned events for 2020 – giving back to the community where I grew up and doing things that are bigger than myself and business. It is the best feeling.
