Being a mom can be very rewarding, and also a job in its own! Once you give birth, the life you have previously known may have to come to one big stop … or not. Mom and small business owner Kayla Schroader has made it possible for moms to have babies and a career; with her creation of “The Pod Works.” Located in University Place, Kayla has created a welcoming space for moms to go with their little ones and still be productive. There is no more worrying about child care, not giving your kids enough attention or being stuck in the house because a normal office isn’t “kid-friendly,” Kayla and The Pod Works team has your back!
Follow this blog to learn more about The Pod Works, what exactly they have to offer and Kayla’s inspiration behind the whole thing. Q: Any fun facts about you or The Pod Works? How was your business born?
The idea was sparked when I had my daughter 5 years ago and started working from home in any and every way to be present with her. It was hard to find resources, space and connection and quickly realized there was a need to be met in Tacoma. I loved the old play cafe and many of my favorite coffee shops but I felt like I was in my own world. It was difficult to find my people and I was detached from my daughter even as I was with her because I had so many things to manage. A sacred, safe space surrounded by like minded moms and their kids made a world of a difference and my dream job finally became reality. Let’s cut the stigma and judgement and just start inspiring and supporting one another and the dreams!!
Hint – we’re also working on a second location launching in 2020 with childcare and dads included! We opened our doors in University Place Nov of 2017 and have had 2 amazing years growing our community from 8 members to 36 members and counting!
